About This Trail

Located on Porto Santo island 27 miles northeast of Madeira, this 2.7 km trail from ER111 runs between 450m and 184m elevation in 1.5 hours, showcasing indigenous Porto Santo flora and privileged island views. The trail leads to Pico Branco (Porto Santo's second-highest peak) through landscapes where cupressus trees dominate, passing Rocha Quebrada—a massive prismatic rock formation where the footpath was carved into the stone itself. A fork near the summit leads right to Terra Chã or left to Pico Branco summit, though the section to Pico Branco is temporarily closed while Terra Chã remains accessible.
