PR 17 - Caminho do Pináculo e Folhadal
About This Trail
This challenging 15 km trail crosses preserved natural landscape at elevations up to 1,490 meters, following Levada da Serra and Levada do Norte from Lombo do Mouro (ER105). The 6.5-hour difficult hike rewards experienced hikers with dramatic features: terraces along Levada do Norte creating tunnels and regular waterfalls, access to panoramic views over Ribeira Brava valley with Pico Ruivo and Pico do Areeiro as backdrop, passages through large lagoons, and numerous additional waterfalls. Currently passable only between Encumeada and Bica da Cana, this hike demands a flashlight for tunnel visibility and suits only experienced, well-prepared hikers.
