About This Event

On June 26th, at 6:30 pm, Portal das Artes, in Funchal, will host the conference “Meeting on the History and Evolution of Mandolin from the 17th Century to Today”, led by luthier and mandolin builder Federico Gabrielli. Throughout this session, the public will be invited to explore the history and evolution of the mandolin and other plucked chordophones, from the 17th century to the present. With more than four decades of experience in building and restoring instruments, Gabrielli shares historical knowledge, sound examples and notable episodes from his career, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of this instrument over the centuries. Entrance is free, subject to prior registration.
